Blackbird Presents and Live Nation announced “Buddy’s Got the Blues: A 90th Birthday Concert Celebration,” a once-in-a-generation evening honoring the iconic blues guitarist Buddy Guy.

Taking place on Oct. 1 at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City, this extraordinary one-night-only event celebrates Guy’s remarkable legacy through unforgettable performances and collaborations from artists whose music and careers were profoundly shaped by his influence.

“Can’t wait to celebrate 90 years of living, loving and playing the blues with all my friends,” stated Guy in the announcement. “We’ll make it a night not just for me, but for the folks who taught us, the friends we’ve played with and the ones coming up behind us.”

The evening features an all-star lineup including Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, Jon Batiste, Aloe Blacc, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jr., Shemekia Copeland, Robert Cray, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, Billy F Gibbons, Ivan Neville, Robert Randolph, Bobby Rush, Isaiah Sharkey, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jimmie Vaughan, Ally Venable, Willie Weeks, Kim Wilson and the honoree himself, Buddy Guy.

Steve Jordan will serve as the evening’s Music Director. Executive producers are Keith Wortman, Garry Buck, and Scooter Weintraub.

Tickets go on sale to the general public June 26 at 10:00 AM/ET.

Guy stands as one of the most influential guitarists in American music. As a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a pioneer of Chicago’s West Side sound, Guy remains a guiding force for generations of rock and blues legends. The nine-time Grammy-winner has also earned a Lifetime Achievement Grammy, 38 Blues Music Awards, the Billboard Century Award, the Presidential National Medal of Arts and the Kennedy Center Honor.

Born on July 30, 1936 in Lettsworth, Louisiana, Guy built his first two-string guitar at age seven. His life changed in 1957 when he moved to Chicago and soon began recording for Chess Records and collaborating with its legendary roster. His raw emotion, showmanship and blistering guitar style reshaped the instrument’s possibilities and set a new standard for electric blues. In recent years, Guy announced his “Damn Right Farewell Tour,” although a step back from extensive touring, he has never stepped away from performing or recording. Now, as he celebrates his 90th year, Buddy Guy remains one of the last surviving architects of electric blues; a bridge from the fields of Louisiana to the clubs of Chicago to the world’s biggest stages.
