New Music Roundup: Exploring 24 Fresh Tracks Released Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out . We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

LOCUST – “LONG DISTANCE LOVER” FT SLOWDIVE’S NEIL HALSTEAD & NATASHA MORROW

Locust, aka electronic artist Mark Van Hoen, is back with a new single that features Slowdive’s Neil Halstead on guitar and vocals from Irish musician Natasha Morrow. He says: “The music was recorded back in 2020 originally as a collab between Neil Halstead and I. It sat around for a few years, and I had the idea to send it to Natasha to see if it inspired anything vocally. She came up with the idea of long-distance phone calls between lovers. It struck a chord with me as I had experienced a couple of relationships like that. The idea of repeating these expressions of desire and longing over and over, because you are aching to be together. I had actually never met Natasha, and generally, I find that remote collabs don’t work because there’s a connection missing somehow. But in Natasha’s case, I had several long phone calls with her, and I think we connected that way. Not in any romantic sense, but as musical collaborators, which has its own particular need for a personal connection and understanding. I found it interesting that it related to the song’s lyrics in that she and I established a different kind of personal bond over the phone.”

MMJ – “NOBODY KNOWS”

mj of Purity Ring has released their debut solo single as mmj via Captured Tracks, the folky “nobody knows.” “‘nobody knows’ is close to the sun for me,” they say. “It resonates a little differently every time I play it. The opening line is: ‘nobody knows a fallen star from wildfire ash raining down on the yard.’ It presents the ways we know so little, but also the things we deny and can see if we choose to, and what we should see and be in order to survive in this place; what we deserve to have and be as individuals and collectively. ‘nobody knows’ is circular, a fractal glimpse of humanity in the span of a song. I hope you feel it.”

CFCF – “BAD SONG” (FT. CECILE BELIEVE)

Cecile Believe, aka Caila Thompson-Hannant (Mozart’s Sister, Think About Life), provides vocals on this new single from CFCF’s upcoming L.U.V.

SARI LIGHTMAN – “THE WAY I SAW YOU”

Sari Lightman (Tasseomancy, Austra, etc) has announced her debut solo LP, The Way I Saw You , due out June 26 via Night Bloom Records. About the title track, she says, “A journalist sits across from the writer Eve Babitz, decades into Babitz’s reclusive period after an accident left her disfigured. She yearns to be remembered the way she was in her writing – sensual and carefree. To live in the rose, immortal, blossoming inside a body of work. There is a lot to be said about an Artists’ myth when in reality, the human experience is much messier, undignified – not to mention the cruelty pelted onto beautiful women as they age. Instead I went down a theological rabbit hole with the rose. I thought about Dante’s Paradise and all those feminine saints stashed in the petals, like an exquisitely scented sexy hotel. ‘Let Eve live here’ I thought.”

TEED – “NEVER SEE YOU DANCE” (DJ-KICKS VERSION)

TEED is the latest to put together a mix for K7’s long-running DJ Kicks series which will be out June 26. Among tracks by Decius, Junior Sanchez, Yu Su, Jacques Greene and more, there’s a new version of TEED’s “Never See You Dance.”

TOVE LO – “I’M YOUR GIRL RIGHT?”

BRIAN FALLON – “NOT BAD FOR NEW JERSEY” & “BETTER BEFORE”

Brian Fallon of Gaslight Anthem released his first new solo music in over five years. “Not Bad for New Jersey” and “Better Before” were produced by Butch Walker, and Fallon says, “‘Not Bad for New Jersey’ is my way of celebrating what I do and where I’m from. I wrote that song looking back on my life the way you do after almost ending up in a crash – like, ‘How did I make it through that?’ I really could’ve busted myself open somewhere along the way, but somehow I’m still here, and I’m still in one piece.”

PAYCHEQUE – “TEMPORARY LOVE”

LA-based duo Paycheque will release their self-titled debut album on June 12 via Mansions And Millions. “Temporary Love” is a nice bit of ’80s synthpop a la TOPS.

Danny Brown’s onetime tourmate and previous collaborator Baauer remixed “Lift You Up” off his 2025 album Stardust .

THE MYSTERY JETS – “BLACK SAGE”

Eel Pie Island’s The Mystery Jets are back with their first new music in six years, a soaring, synthy number called “Black Sage.”

LAURA MISCH – “SOFTEN”

“Featuring medieval symphonie, a hurdy-gurdy, droning beneath the surface, this song was partly inspired by a pilgrimage I made to the extraordinary giant balancing stones on Bodmin Moor, called the Cheesewrings,” Laura Misch says of the latest single off her new album Lithic . “These granite rock formations are a natural geological phenomenon, their edges weathered into softened curves over time through the harshest of storms.”
