Shrek 5 Teaser Trailer Drops, Promising Summer 2025 Release

The latest teaser trailer for Shrek 5 features a few key cornerstones of the long-running animated franchise: The exuberant voice performance of Eddie Murphy and a little bit of Smash Mouth’s “All Star,” because why not.

There’s also no shortage of crude humor, especially jokes about butts: In the trailer, Donkey’s so excited about getting back into action that he wants a full glow-up, including for his badonkadonk, while the Gingerbread Man’s also “caked up” — a reminder that this series has always enjoyed defying Disney-esque prudishness. ( Totally coincidentally, this trailer was released just an hour before the review embargo for Toy Story 5 lifts.)

In addition to Murphy, Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz are also returning to play ogres Shrek and Fiona, who are now parents to three teens, voiced by Zendaya , Marcello Hernandez, and Skyler Gisondo. While there’s no official plot synopsis yet, the trailer features snippets of the fairytale gang getting into scrapes, with the whole family landing in jail at one point. (Cue Donkey taking advantage of the jail cell’s acoustics.)
