Wardogs launched in Early Access yesterday evening (September 10) and, according to developers Bulkhead, has already sold more than 1.25million copies.
It’s racked up some big numbers on Steam as well, with a concurrent player peak of 340,000 last night and more than 180,000 people playing now (via SteamDB ). In fact, Wardogs ’ launch was so big, it overwhelmed Bulkhead’s servers. Despite several test events where they invited players to “obliterate our servers”, Wardogs bosses had to take the game offline yesterday to restart it, and then implemented a queue to ensure it stayed online.
Things have calmed down now though, with players able to jump into the online shooter without issue.

According to the game’s official description, “ Wardogs is a tactical all out warfare first-person shooter where one hundred players split across three teams fight over the control zone. Set in the derelict industrial mountains of Eastern Europe on a destructible battlefield where teamwork pays and cash is king.”
And despite the issues with launch, Wardogs currently has a “ mostly positive ” review score on Steam, with more than 16,000 players rating the game.
Bulkhead plan to keep Wardogs in early access for between one and two years while they work on making it “broader and more polished” with “more maps, weapons, vehicles and gameplay variety.”
“Our primary focus is on building deeper reasons to play beyond individual matches. We plan to develop more in depth progression systems, a stronger seasonal meta game, and additional systems that reward players for the time and impact they bring to a match, whether through combat, support, or logistics,” they explained in a blog post.
