So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out . We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
HOVVDY – “BLAST”
Here’s a second single from Hovvdy’s upcoming Big World . Powered by a decidedly ’90s beat, “Blast” delivers a positive message via the duo’s signature twang-pop-lite sound.

Actress is back with his first release on Ninja Tune in three years. “Live By You” features vocals by CASISDEAD the kind of production only Actress could make.

OVERMONO – “EVEN ANGELS GHOST” (FEAT. KINDORA)
“We’re always drawn towards a particular tone in vocals, and hers is pretty much like the pinnacle,” says Overmono’s Tom Russell of “Even Angels Ghost” collaborator Kindora. She adds, “Even Angels Ghost” is me being vulnerable and doing boy math as per usual, I am a very outgoing but also extremely shy person and I get in my head about every interaction. But when I’m with Overmono, I feel like I’m the third brother. They really are the best. I love working with them. I really appreciate their artistry and commitment to making good music.”

GRUMPY – “TWENTY FIVE”
Grumpy (Heaven Schmitt) says new single “Twenty Five” is about time travel to help a younger version of themselves. “The song is me telling her, If you ever get that opportunity, please leave a clue so that you can get back to me in the present.”

REV3RENT – “LAST ONE HERE”
California deathcore group Rev3rent have signed with Atlantic imprint Deep Love Recordings and this is their first release for the label. “Last One Here” drops right as the band start their North American tour opening for Spite, Emmure, and PSYCHO-FRAME.

SARI LIGHTMAN – “GIVE IT ALL UP”
Sari Lightman who used to sing in Austra and is one half of Tasseomancy, has a solo album on the way that was produced by Meg Duffy of Hand Habits. This is the new single. “I originally wrote this song for Lightman & Lightman’s Sister Smile, absorbed in the spiritual themes of feminine mysticism,” Sari says. “‘Give It all Up’ is a post humous interview between two contemporary female mystics, the singing nun, Jeanine Deckers and the Jewish diarist, Etty Hillesum. The song is conversational: The leading line asking the question, the second line responding. This is a supernatural interview and naturally, the responses are ominous and prophetic. Meg Duffy, my beloved friend/producer/guitarist of the track, suggested a stripped down version and it lent for a more meditative feeling. Also, I’ve always wanted to pull a Neil Young and pay homage to the self with a personal cover.” The Way I Saw You is out June 26

HANK HEAVEN – “THREAD”
“I wrote ‘Thread’ while being plagued by the memory of someone,” says Hank Heaven of this new single that was produced by Phil Weinrobe (Big Thief). “It felt like no matter what I did, I was reminded of them. I saw their reminiscence in life’s most ordinary moments: doing my laundry, walking around my neighborhood. Even the concept of getting better became a reminder of them. The song is both a declaration and an act of release.”

HO99O9 – “POWER IN NUMBERS”
“If you been following us since United States of Horror then you already know the agenda, never compromised, ain’t nothing change,” says Ho99o9. “It’s been up since day 1, our way or the highway, for those who are just opening your eyes & hopping aboard, welcome my children, your late. The protest been here. But right now, It’s either peace or we burning it down, always was and always will be.”

HEY, NOTHING – “ARTERIES”
Athens, GA duo hey, nothing will release their major label debut, Hound, on August 21 via Music Soup / Interscope Records. “This is the first time we wrote with a cohesive vision, with songs glued together to tell a whole story,” the duo say. “It’s more us than anything we’ve released.” They’ve just shared the album’s first single and say this about it: “The ‘Arteries’ music video represents our forever growing (and glowing) friendship and commitment towards one another. We wanted to visualize that we’d be strung together in every universe. Even if that universe is a generationally ambiguous fever dream with robbers and seizures and basketball.”
