On June 11, the final day of the 2026 National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) Conference in Minneapolis, Executive Director Stephen Parker announced that Boulder will host the sixth annual conference in 2027.

NIVA Announces Boulder as Host City for 2027 Conference

Yesterday, June 11,, the fial day of the 2026 National Independent Venue Association Conference in Minneapolis, Stephen Parker, the trade associations Executive director, announced from the stage of the Pantages Theater that next year’s conference , the sixth annual, will be held in the Rocky Mountain town of Boulder Colorado and run from June 27–July 1, 2027.

NIVA’s Boulder-area member venues, who will be involved with the conference include the Boulder Theater, Fox Theatre, eTown Hall, Rembrandt Yard, Chautauqua Auditorium, Roots Music Project, and Velvet Elk Lounges. Slated for the final day of the conference is an event at the stunning Red Rocks Amphitheatre (which won the Pollstar Award for Best Amphitheater for so many years, we retired them from the competition and named the award after them).

“Boulder’s vibrant independent live music community embodies everything NIVA looks for in a host city, from the venues, promoters, and festivals that anchor its entertainment and cultural scene to the artists who have grown up on these iconic stages,” Parker said in a statement. “We look forward to bringing the community together once again to foster meaningful, long-lasting connections.”

Colorado Senator John Hickenlooper added: “Independent venues are the backbone of Colorado’s creative economy, and Boulder is the perfect example of what a thriving live music community looks like. Bringing NIVA’s annual conference here in 2027 is a testament to the strength of this industry and the artists, venue operators, and fans who have built something truly special in our state.”

David Weingarden is Co-Founder/Chair, Colorado Independent Venue Association as well as Vice President of Concerts + Events, Z2 Entertainment, will have a strong hand in producing next year’s confab.
