Duran Duran Demands Headline Slot for Glastonbury Performance

Looks like the Legends slot at Glastonbury isn’t good enough for Duran Duran : In a new interview with The Sunday Times , the English group asserted that they wouldn’t play the festival unless they’re billed as headliners.

Despite being active for over 45 years, Duran Duran have strangely never been booked to play Glastonbury — something frontman Simon Le Bon addressed back in 2023 during an interview with NME , telling the outlet “I’d love to [do it] – we just need to get the right slot, that’s all.” Now, Le Bon has doubled down on the importance of their hypothetical stage and time slot, saying that they want to play but won’t accept anything less than headlining the Pyramid Stage.

“Well, we want to – but not in a disco tent at 3pm, which is what we were offered,” Le Bon told The Sunday Times . “We want the right slot… We shouldn’t be below anybody on the bill. So, we’ll hold out because we’re a headline act – that’s all there is to it.” Would a Duran Duran Pyramid stage set to end the night be great? Of course. Would that previously offered “disco tent at 3pm” slot also go hard? It sure would, but alas.

Duran Duran may have quite the competition for a headlining slot at Glastonbury next year, as the festival takes a fallow year in 2026 and many major stars — including Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, and Ed Sheeran — remain in play to top 2027’s lineup.
