Foo Fighters Debut New and Classic Tracks at Tiny Desk Concert
The Foo Fighters performed new songs alongside beloved classics like "Learn to Fly" and "Everlong" during their first-ever Tiny Desk concert performance.
Foo Fighters stopped by the NPR office to perform their first-ever Tiny Desk Concert .
The band brought five tracks to their Tiny Desk debut, including two from their brand new album, Your Favorite Toy . They opened the show with “Spit Shine,” one of the more raucous cuts from their new LP; the desk may be tiny and the directive may be ‘acoustic-ish,’ but the Foos certainly brought plenty of energy, volume, and a slight bit of mayhem to the track. Next was “Learn to Fly,” a perfect fit for Tiny Desk’s pared-down style.

They then busted out “Child Actor,” a song they performed recently on Saturday Night Live UK . Before playing it, Dave Grohl joked about the SNL performance, saying that because he hadn’t gotten a haircut before the show, he accidentally inhaled his own hair and made a sound akin to “the furball sound” that a cat makes. “I didn’t choke!” said Grohl at the conclusion of the track. “No furballs!”

The band rounded out their set with two beloved tracks from The Colour and The Shape , “My Hero” and “Everlong.” The former featured some support from the crowd, who sang the chorus alongside Grohl; the latter, Foo Fighters’ usual closer, was a faithful and earnest rendition. In between songs, Grohl also shouted out two of his favorite Tiny Desk Concerts: D.C. funk legends Trouble Funk and the rapper Juvenile. Watch Foo Fighters’ full Tiny Desk Concert below.

Foo Fighters are coming off a busy period celebrating Your Favorite Toy , during which they appeared on Colbert , performed a rowdy club show in New York, guested on the web series Track Star , and headlined Florida’s Welcome to Rockville.
