Ian Curtis: Insight Exhibition Heads to NYC This Summer
An exhibition featuring handwritten lyrics, personal letters, photographs and ephemera from late Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, titled ‘Ian Curtis: Insight,’ is set to open in New York City this summer.

An exhibition of rare archival material featuring late Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis is coming to NYC this summer at the Voltz Clarke Gallery from June 22 to July 25 . It’s free and open to the public.
Titled “Ian Curtis: Insight,” the exhibition includes handwritten lyrics (including “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” see below), photographs, personal letters, ephemera and other artifacts drawn from the Ian Curtis archive from the The John Rylands Library at The University of Manchester, as part of the British Pop Archive.
“This exhibition is part of The University of Manchester’s remit to share our Special Collections globally,” says Professor Christopher Pressler of The John Rylands Library. “The Ian Curtis archive is of national significance, and Joy Division are one of the UK’s most important and iconic bands. The exhibition in New York forms part of a series, showcasing the archive and promoting the University’s ‘From Manchester for the world’ strategy.”
The Voltz Clarke Gallery is open Monday to Friday from 10 AM – 6 PM and Saturdays from 12 PM – 5 PM.
