About the series
The Open is the oldest of the four majors and the only one played outside the United States, rotating between a set of links courses in the United Kingdom. Coastal links golf means wind and weather are genuine competitive factors rather than inconveniences.
Spectating here is different from the American majors: the terrain is open, the crowds move along the links, and conditions can change several times in a single round.
