About the series
Wimbledon is the oldest tennis championship in the world and the only Grand Slam contested on grass. Play is centred on Centre Court and No. 1 Court, both of which have roofs, with a wide network of outer courts carrying the early rounds.
The tournament's own ticketing has long-standing traditions, including a public ballot and a daily queue, which means the resale market behaves differently here than at other majors. Court and day are the two things that define what a ticket actually is: a Centre Court ticket for the second Wednesday is a different proposition from a grounds pass in the first week.
If you are planning travel around it, treat the court and the day of the fortnight as the fixed part of your plan, and the players as the part that will only become clear once the draw and the schedule are published.
