The Wilco frontman shared the cover of the Blame the Clown track to his Substack By Hattie Lindert September 13, 2026 Save this story Save this story

Jeff Tweedy is now a card-carrying member of the Twisted Teens fan club. On September 11, the Wilco frontman shared a cover of the New Orleans duo’s “Wild Connection,” which appears on their February album Blame the Clown . Give it a listen on his Substack .

In a short essay about the cover, Tweedy complemented bandleader Caspian Hollywell’s voice, noting that he “had trouble not trying to sing like him.” “One of the reasons I do so many cover songs is that I think it’s good to hear something you like and then see what it feels like to try it on, almost like clothes,” he wrote. “On this one, I think I still sound like myself. I actually kind of feel like I maybe sound like a younger version of myself.”

Tweedy has shared covers on his Substack before: in February, he posted a rendition of Cameron Winter’s “ Love Takes Miles ” as a Valentines Day gift to his wife. Earlier this year, he wrapped up a headlining tour in support of his album Twilight Override , wrote a New York Times crossword puzzle, and performed on Kimmel twice .

Twisted Teens are gearing up to release their third album of 2026, The Holy Cross Tigers , on November 6. The record follows their July LP Florida Water Blues , and will mark the band’s debut on their new label Sub Pop.
