Major rodeo events

Permanent reference pages for the recurring championships in this sport. Each one explains how that event is run and what its tickets normally cover.

What a rodeo event includes

Rodeo covers several disciplines within one event. Rough stock events such as bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc are scored by judges; timed events such as barrel racing, roping and steer wrestling are decided on the clock. A full rodeo runs through those disciplines in a set order across an evening.

Bull riding also exists as a standalone professional format, where a full event is built around that single discipline. Bull-riding tours and full rodeos are both covered here.

  • Scored events are judged; timed events are decided on the clock.
  • Championship events run multiple rounds across several days.
  • Each performance is normally ticketed separately.

Seating and arena considerations

Most rodeo events run in arenas or covered grounds, and seating follows the venue's normal bowl layout. Lower-level seats along the chutes give the closest view of the rough stock action; higher and end seats give a fuller view of timed events that use the full arena floor. Neither is objectively better — it depends on which part of the event you care about.

Multi-day championship events sell each performance separately, so the round matters as much as the date.

  • Check which performance or round a listing covers.
  • Chute-side seats and elevated seats show different parts of the event.
  • Seating layouts, permitted items and entry policies are set by each venue and each event, so check the official venue and event information before you travel.

Rodeo ticket questions

Is bull riding the same as rodeo?
Bull riding is one rodeo discipline, and it also exists as a standalone professional event format. Both are covered in this category.
Does one ticket cover a whole championship?
No. Multi-day championship events normally ticket each performance separately.
