Aaron Judge Placed Back on Injured List with Right Calf Strain
Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is back on the injured list due to a right calf strain. This follows a brief seven-game return after an extended absence for a broken rib.
The New York Yankees are placing star outfielder Aaron Judge on the 10-day injured list with a right calf strain.
Judge was pulled from Wednesday's loss to the Twins because of tightness in his lower right leg. An inning earlier, he had to run to the gap to track down a ball in the outfield, but he didn't show any sign of discomfort or slowness and later said he first felt tightness during the first inning.
The three-time American League MVP was 4-for-23 with 13 strikeouts and one extra-base hit in seven games since returning last week from a lengthy absence due to a broken rib.
The Yankees, who have clinched at least a wild-card spot, trail the first-place Tampa Bay Rays by five games in the American League East entering Friday.
Judge is hitting .241 with 18 home runs and 41 RBIs in 66 games this season.
