Brad Paisley Debuts Original Song ‘We Are South America’ on ‘South Park’ Season 29 Premiere

Brad Paisley should probably not expect an invitation from Donald Trump for the President’s next big rally. Why? Because on Wednesday night’s (Sept. 16) season 29 premiere of South Park — which creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have temporarily retitled South America in their latest tweak of Trump’s obsession with nomenclature — the country superstar proved he was in on the joke by contributing a new song called “We Are South America.”

The whole thing was a satirical stick in the eye of Trump, who has lately been on a re-naming spree himself, decreeing that Lake Ontario is now Lake America, after earlier attempting to make the Gulf of America a thing in the early days of his second term. The season premiere, “South American Biker Gangs,” mostly moved on from the relentless, super NSFW Trump administration bashing of the previous season with an episode focused on Mayor McDaniels instituting a citywide ban on e-bikes.

Paisley’s original song plays in the background of a scene near the end of the episode in which Stan laments Kenny dying (again) due to an e-bike battery explosion. After Stan’s dad Randy gives a rousing speech about coming together as a community following Kenny’s latest demise, the scene shifts to the funeral, with the loud and proud country ballad bubbling up as the e-bike ban is announced.

“We are South America/ Where the cold north wind blows/ If you’re driving through our mountain town/ I just think you should know,” Paisley sings in the defiant song about sticking to your given name, with a not-so-subtle nod to another one of Trump’s recent obsessions: making Canada the 51st U.S. state. “That we are South America/ In that northern mountain sun/ We’ll always be South America/ We won’t change for anyone/ Two words that bring a smile to my mouth/ America and South/ We are South America,” it continues.

Paisley recently released his digital-only project Tacklebox — Disc 1 , a collection of unreleased and unrecorded song dating back to the 1990s, along with recently written tunes inspired by the country styles of the time by the likes of artists including Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn and Alabama. The singer also co-produced Star Trek star William Shatner’s new spoken-word album, Love & Other Mysteries .

South America airs every two weeks on Wednesdays on Comedy Central at 10 p.m. ET.
