Castlevania’s 40th Anniversary Celebrated with Orchestral Concerts

Konami has confirmed that it will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Castlevania series with a trio of orchestral gigs.

The gothic horror action-adventure game series started with 1986’s Castlevania and Vampire Killer, which kickstarted the long-running franchise. Over the past 40 years, there have been a number of sequels and spin-offs as well as two celebrated Netflix series.

Yesterday (September 24) game publisher Konami confirmed it would be celebrating 40 years of Castlevania . As well as making various games in the franchise cheaper, Konami announced it would be making music from the series available to stream and giving select soundtracks a vinyl release.

The first two vinyl releases (the original Castlevania soundtrack and the music of 1997’s Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night) have already been confirmed . Tomorrow (September 26) the music from Castlevania Black & Red will be available to stream.

Konami has also announced it will be putting on a trio of orchestral concerts to celebrate 40 years of Castlevania . The ‘Castlevania 40th Anniversary: An Orchestral Concert’ will be held in Tokyo, London and LA in early 2027. Exact details will be announced soon.

“It’s been 40 years since the series was born,” Castlevania producers wrote on the dedicated anniversary site . “To celebrate this momentous occasion with everyone who has supported the series, we will be offering the original Castlevania app for free for a limited time. Please enjoy the story of its beginning once again. We have also prepared special discount sales on other series titles and celebratory videos, so we hope you will enjoy those as well,” they continued. “We have various developments planned for the series in the future, so please look forward to them.”

In other news, Xbox ’s Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball has hit back at claims that the company is worried about Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders on the platform after Rockstar Games said the game played “best” on PlayStation.
