Discover Every Song on the Soundtrack for Sharon Horgan’s New Comedy ‘Youth’

Created and written by Horgan, the eight-part series sees her star as Alex, a recently divorced 50-year-old literary agent who is attempting to throw herself back into dating while simultaneously looking after her ageing parents and dealing with her son Ruari’s uncertain first steps into adulthood.

Aran Murphy, the son of Cillian Murphy , plays Ruari, while Rupert Friend stars as Alex’s on-off love interest Patrick. Sharlene Whyte, Robbie Gee and Tim McInnerny are also among the cast.

The series examines Horgan’s idea of your fifties being the “youth of old age”, with Alex finding the freedom she expected to gain as her son leaves for university complicated by family responsibilities, work and her renewed search for sex and romance.

The first two episodes, ‘Lockjaw’ and ‘Wagon Burner’, are available now, with the remaining instalments set to arrive weekly.

What songs are on the ‘Youth’ soundtrack?

The series features an original score by composer Jeff Cardoni, whose previous television work includes Silicon Valley , Young Sheldon and The Kominsky Method .

Music is already playing a significant part in the show. The closing moments of the premiere use Radiohead ’s ‘Everything In Its Right Place’,  and Horgan told TheWrap that she had chosen the track long before she knew whether the production would be able to licence it.

“I’d written that it was going to be Radiohead, whether we got [the song] or not,” she said. “I’d written that into the script a year and a half ago.”

Other songs to feature in the show so far include tracks by Geese and LCD Soundsystem .
