GWAR Announce First Video Game Collaboration in Over Three Decades
Shock rock band GWAR is set to feature in the upcoming game ‘Mutant Football League 2: Antarctica Scumdogs,’ marking their first video game collaboration in more than 30 years.

After an iconic turn in 1994’s Beavis & Butt-Head: The Game , GWAR have announced their first gaming collaboration in more than 30 years.

GWAR were Beavis & Butt-Head’s favourite band in the classic ‘90s cartoon and the video game spin-off saw the two teenage slackers desperately trying to get to a GWAR gig. Since then, the shock rockers’ music has appeared in 2009’s Guitar Hero 5 and Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes The Neighborhood but now the heavy metal band have confirmed details of a brand new video game collab.
GWAR will appear in the Antarctica Scumbags expansion for Mutant Football League 2, “a hard-hitting, arcade-style football game that combines intense gameplay, wisecracking mutants, weapons, deep strategy and outrageous humor.”

GWAR’s team for Mutant Football League 2 includes Blöthar The Berserker, BälSäc The Jaws ‘O Death, iZMak Da Gusha, Grodius Maximus, Beefcake The Mighty, Sawborg Destructo and Bonesnapper as playable characters. “They are the most physically destructive teams in MFL 2 , designed around a philosophy of brutality and carnage and turning every match into a white-knuckle battle for survival. If you’re playing against GWAR, the score is the last thing on your mind,” reads a press release.
“Today, the Antarctican Scumdogs of GWAR take to the frozen tundra of the Mutant Football League , where killing isn’t everything, it’s the ONLY thing! Let the games begin,” said the band’s Blöthar The Berserker. The Antarctica Scumbags expansion, which is due to launch in October 2026, also included a new stadium full of GWAR lore and Easter eggs.
Later this month, GWAR will be re-releasing the Devin Townsend-produced ‘Beyond Hell’ ahead of a US tour in October. “I had been a GWAR fan since I was a kid. I loved the freedom, the metal, the spectacle, and the passion that went into it all,” said Townsend in a statement. ” “GWAR were, and are, an amazing combination of artistic freedom, absurdity, and hard work bundled up with metal and performance. Loved them then, love them now.”
Earlier this year, GWAR went viral for their brutal cover of Chappell Roan ‘s hit ‘Pink Pony Club’.
In other news, it’s been confirmed that the intense reveal trailer for the StarCraft reboot was soundtracked by Doom 2016 ’s composer Mick Gordon and Doom: The Dark Age ’s music team Finishing Move.
