Judge Unfamiliar with Rick Ross During Expedited Release Request After Arrest

Rick Ross (born William Roberts) was arrested and booked on a pair of domestic battery charges in Miami Beach on Thursday (Oct. 1). When Rozay was remotely arraigned while still in custody hours later, the rapper’s attorney, Bradley Horenstein, asked Judge Mindy Glazer for an expedited release process due to Ross’ celebrity status.

TMZ obtained footage from the courtroom, which saw Judge Glazer explaining how she had no inkling who Rick Ross was, but promised him a fair process.

“Mr. Roberts is a celebrity … I’d ask that his release be expedited. He’s in a red jumpsuit,” said Horenstein.

Glazer replied: “Hi, Mr. Roberts. I have no idea who you are except as someone here in the court who’s going to be treated fairly like everybody else here.”

Longtime Rick Ross rival 50 Cent had a laugh at the clip, which he reposted on IG . “The judge don’t know that fool LOL BOOK HIS STUPID ASS,” he wrote.

Ross is facing a pair of battery charges, including a battery by strangulation charge. His attorneys, Bradley Horenstein and Steve Sadow, denied the allegations levied against him by an ex-girlfriend and confirmed he’s posted bond and been released from custody.

“William Roberts II, professionally known as Rick Ross, is being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear,” Ross’ attorneys said in a statement shared with Billboard . “The ex did not even file a police report until Sept. 29, a month after the claimed incident allegedly took place on Aug. 28, 2026. Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges. He respectfully requests that his friends, fans and the general public not prejudge the situation and allow the judicial process to run its course.”

The charges against the MMG rapper come just days after Rozay’s ex, Jazzma Kendrick, publicly accused Ross of domestic violence. She posted photos of the alleged abuse to her IG Story, which were captured by People . “I don’t know a lot of things, but I do know that a man that puts his hands on me is a man that never loved me and never will,” she wrote.
