Kat Edmonson Announces "Have Your Merry Christmas With Me" Album & Tour

Kat Edmonson, the Songwriters Hall of Fame award-winning singer and songwriter, has announced a new album, Have Your Merry Christmas With Me , and an accompanying tour of the same name. The holiday-themed trek will find Edmonson hitting the road the day after Thanksgiving, on Nov. 27, when she will be performing at the Blue Strawberry in St. Louis, MO. From there, the tour will take the singer to major US markets including Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Boise, Denver, New York City, Los Angeles, a three-night stop in Austin, TX, Houston, and more. “Have Your Merry Christmas With Me Tour” will then come to an end on Dec. 30 in Seattle, WA at the Triple Door. Additionally, the singer and composer Kat Edmonson announced her new holiday album Have Your Merry Christmas With Me , which is set to release on Nov. 6. The LP is described as “a sophisticated, elegant and joyful journey through the holiday season and the music that has defined it for decades,” per an official press release. But the work features Kat’s signature sound and performance, with only renditions that she could create in the jazz and traditional pop genres.

Edmonson released the LP’s first single, It’s Snowing,” to support the forthcoming album. The track is a solemn reimagining of the Allen Toussaint-penned Irma Thomas classic “It’s Raining”.

“The album is a distillation of what the holidays mean to me — love, hope, joy in the face of loss, and a healthy dose of nostalgia,” Kat says in an official statement.

“It’s Snowing” joins two original tracks penned by Kat, the title track “Have Your Merry Christmas With Me” and “Hush! There’s a Falling Snow.” Elsewhere on the album, you’ll find spirited takes on beloved holiday staples like “Jingle Bells”, “Hark! The Herald Angels Swing” and “Santa Baby”, as well as modern versions of classics like Nancy Wilson’s “That’s What I Want For Christmas”, The Andrews Sisters’ “I’d Like To Hitch a Ride with Santa Claus” and an especially effective moody interpretation of Wham!’s “Last Christmas”.
