LCD Soundsystem to Mark 100th NYC Residency Show; Al Doyle Reveals Solo Album

It's time for another LCD Soundsystem residency. James Murphy and co. have announced a string of NYC shows slated for the holiday season at Queens' Knockdown Center and Brooklyn's Brooklyn Steel. It includes their 100th NYC residency show.

The band — who are also opening for Harry Styles next year — have been doing residency performances in the Big Apple since 2017 with DJs, surprises, and afterparties. This year's consists of 12 shows over three weekends starting Nov. 19-22 at the Knockdown Center, continuing with Nov. 30-Dec. 3 at the Brooklyn Steel, and concluding with four more shows Dec. 10-13 at Knockdown Center. The Nov. 30 gig will serve as the 100th, and LCD will donate 100% of proceeds from ticket sales for that show to a charity to be announced.

Tickets will first be available via an American Express pre-sale from Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 10:00 a.m. local time to Thursday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. local time, followed by an artist pre-sale on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. local time. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. local time via AXS.

Meanwhile, guitarist and keyboardist Al Doyle announced his debut solo album, Hollywood Saviour , arriving this fall on DFA. The lead single "Hard Times In America" is out now, and it's a chipper tune about this bleak existence. Here's what Doyle says about the record:

> The world doesn’t need an Al Doyle solo record. It’s not the last thing we need, but it’d be in the bottom quarter somewhere; below universal healthcare, above a new Simply Red record. But if I did everything according to what the world needs I wouldn’t get much done; it’s just not my skillset. I’m more a microphone-choosing, volume-adjusting, cocktail-drinking kinda guy. Then again, if you go into the studio every day, and noodle about with stuff enough, eventually you’re gonna come up with an album, and that’s pretty much what happened. A solo record is a weird choice for a man in his mid-40s. It’s like I needed this much time to find the confidence to ignore what anyone might think about me making such a narcissistic move. I did want folks to have fun listening to it though. It’s not difficult music; there’s a bunch of guitar/bass/drum arrangements, a lot of synths and drum machines too. Basically exactly what you’d expect me to make, having been in the bands I’ve been in. And in a way the record is a thank you to all the masterful musicians I’ve stolen from over the last many years; this is the result of many hands. Nothing happens in a vacuum that doesn’t suck.
