No. 4 Ole Miss RB Lacy Doubtful for Saturday Showdown Against No. 21 Florida

Kewan Lacy , the star running back for No. 4 Ole Miss , is not expected to play against No. 21 Florida on Saturday, coach Pete Golding told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Saturday.

Lacy, who is widely regarded as one of the top running backs in college football, was downgraded to doubtful on the SEC injury report Friday after suffering a left shoulder injury against LSU last week. He had X-rays after the game and then an MRI on Sunday.

"We still have another chapel session, so I'm not giving up yet," Golding told ESPN.

JT Lindsey , a former LSU transfer, and Makhi Frazier , who transferred from Michigan State , will split carries for the No. 4 Rebels if Lacy can't play.

Lacy, a junior, has 39 carries this season for 191 yards and four touchdowns. He suffered a thigh bruise that knocked him out of Ole Miss' season-opening win over Louisville , but he returned the following week and rushed for a pair of touchdowns against Charlotte .

He was an All-America pick and Doak Walker Award finalist last season when he set single-season program records for rushing attempts (306), yards (1,567) and touchdowns (24).

Lindsey, a sophomore, has rushed for 48 yards on 12 attempts this season, while Frazier, a junior, has 38 yards on nine carries.

For Florida, wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr ., who has yet to make his debut for the Gators due to a sprained left ankle, will be a game-time decision against Ole Miss, but coach Jon Sumrall told ESPN that he feels decent about his chances to play.

Singleton, who spent one season at Auburn after two years at Georgia Tech , caught 58 passes for 534 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers in 2025.
