Oasis Fans Speculate on New Music or Album for Potential 2027 Tour

Oasis have finally announced their long anticipated Live ‘27 tour – and fans are already debating about whether we can expect any new music on the way.

Rumours of a new tour started from the moment their mammoth Live ‘25 tour came to a close at the end of last year, and got more momentum in recent weeks, when the band released their new documentary Don’t Look Back In Anger in cinemas, and followed it up with a teaser campaign that culminated in a drone show over the Etihad .

Last night, (Monday September 14), they confirmed plans for 38 shows kicking off next May , with dates opening with five nights at Glasgow’s Celtic Park, before an impressive 11 gigs at The Etihad in Manchester, followed by shows across Europe.

In August, there are three shows in Boston and three in Las Vegas, and the tour then wraps up with two stops at Slane Castle in Ireland and four at Knebworth.

In an interview soon after the announcement, Noel Gallagher revealed the precise moment when the band knew that they’d be following up Live ‘25 with another tour, and fans have already started celebrating the new dates online, trying to work out the setlist , and debate whether a Glastonbury slot could be on the cards.

Another thing widely spoken about online is the chances of Oasis dropping any new material to accompany the upcoming tour.

The Britpop legends haven’t released a new album since 2008’s ‘Dig Out Your Soul’, although have regularly distanced themselves from the rumours that new music is on the way.

In a TalkSPORT interview last night, Noel bluntly said that “there won’t be any new music” to accompany the album. This echoed the comments made by Liam earlier this summer, when he said on X that the pressure for new music to meet fans’ expectations made the idea too off-putting , and he wasn’t “prepared for the criticism” if it didn’t sell 100million copies “in the first hour”.

Despite that, some fans aren’t fully convinced that the Gallaghers have written out the idea of new music all together.

“Here’s hoping it’s a step toward them creating new music together as @oasis again,” on person wrote on X, while others shared that they had come to terms with the band no longer releasing any material.

“As much I’d like new music from Oasis, it’s best they perform their well known and underrated tracks for the upcoming tour next year,” one wrote, while another shared: “Disappointed but not surprised”.

Others were actually quite relieved that Oasis seem to not be considering new music to accompany the tour – “Can you imagine the queue for the toilets if Oasis announced they’re playing a new song? Nobody wants it – nobody is asking for it,” one wrote.

Both Liam and Noel Gallagher have dismissed rumours that there is any new music on the way, and these comments align with what their manager Alex McKinlay said in an 2025 interview, claiming that there were definitely “no plans for any new music” .

There has been some fanning flames, however. In 2024, shortly after news of Oasis’ return, Liam got fans talking when he said that he and Noel had a new album on the way that was “already finished” . He then stirred the pot again later that year by saying that he was “blown away” by the music his new brother was working on for the record.

That November, he admitted that he was trolling fans with the comments , sharing that there is “no Oasis album in the making” and adding: “I was fucking joking… and the reason being because everyone is a little uptight these days. I’m sorry if I have upset anyone but fuck me it was a laugh.”

He then fanned flames again in 2025, dismissing the comments from McKinlay regarding new music and saying that “the only people making any kind of decisions on the future of OASIS will be ME n RKID [Noel]” , and jokingly dismissing McKinlay as being their “accountant”.

While it is unlikely to be work on a new Oasis album, it is worth noting that both Noel and Liam have been seen separately going to the studio to record new material in recent months.

Last spring, Stereophonics ’ Kelly Jones revealed to NME that Noel had been in the studio with new material , but said he wasn’t sure what he was working on. More recently, Johnny Marr said something similar, sharing that he knew that Noel was currently “writing songs for fun” – although wasn’t convinced it was anything Oasis related.

The last album from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds was 2023’s ‘Council Skies’ , which featured Marr on three songs: ‘Pretty Boy’, ‘Open The Door, See What You Find’ and ‘I’m Not Giving Up Tonight’.

Liam has also also seen leaving the studio, although it looks like he is working on a follow-up to his album with The Stone Roses’ John Squire . Speaking out after being seen at the studios, he simply wrote: “ IM A SINGER I SING SONGS THATS WHAT I DO ”.

As for the new Don’t Look Back In Anger documentary, NME recently spoke to creator and writer Steven Knight about the “healing ” reunion of the Gallagher brothers, as well as directors Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern about paying tribute to late Stone Roses icon Mani in the film.

The documentary was given a four-and-a-half star review by NME , which praised it as “masterfully done, with moments of irreverence and intense passion burning throughout.”

With the live shows last year, NME gave a five-star review to the opening night of the Live ’25 tour in Cardiff , hailing it as “a supersonic reunion for a new generation”. “This is all you ever would have wanted from Oasis in 2025: they look cool, sound fucking amazing, and they want to be here,” it read.
