PeelingFlesh has announced their upcoming self-titled album and released the lead single, "Murderous Intent," which features Mike Ryan of Missing Link. This follows a trend in the hardcore underground that sees bands embracing brutal death
In the past few years, a huge segment of the hardcore underground has gone heavy, embracing the most brutal, ugly, guttural strains of death metal, deathcore, and slam. That plot-twist has led to the rise of bands like Torture, Final Resting Place, Snuffed On Sight, and Fatal Realm. But the biggest of the new wave of slam bands is Oklahoma City's PeelingFlesh. As you can tell by both the band name and the unreadable logo above, PeelingFlesh's whole style is about as unfriendly as it gets. They've got an utterly demented sound — violent speed-chug breakdowns with pig-squeal vocals and occasional Southern rap samples — that truly makes no sense to me. It makes the kids go crazy, though.
