Remy Ma Addresses Nicki Minaj on New EP ‘Alimony,’ Doubts Future Reconciliation

Remy Ma returned with her new EP Alimony on Friday (Sept. 25), and the Bronx native flexes her pen on project standout “Rem the Pen.” She examines the state of women in rap and name-drops her longtime rival, Nicki Minaj, on the hard-hitting track.

On the song, Remy shows love to her peers including Cardi B, Lil Kim, Rah Digga, Missy Elliott and Monie Love before addressing her icy relationship with Minaj

“Me and Nicki will probably never speak again/ Even that bitch told y’all I got a pen/ You not blackballed bitchh you just not Rem/ You can’t pop s–t and hang with my friends,” she raps.

Billboard has reached out to Minaj’s rep for comment.

Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma’s feud dates back to 2007 when Remy felt the Queens rapper was dissing her on Minaj’s Playtime Is Over mixtape. Tensions cooled when Remy got out of jail in 2014, to the point that she even saluted Minaj for winning best hip-hop at the 2016 BET Awards, and Minaj voiced her hopes to one day collaborate with her onetime rival.

However, that all went by the wayside when Remy felt Minaj was subliminally taking shots at her with guest appearances on Jason Derulo’s “Swalla” and Gucci Mane’s “Make Love” in 2017.

Remy hopped in the booth and returned fire with the eviscerating “Shether” in February 2017, which finds her rhyming ove r Nas’ classic Jay-Z diss track from 2001.

Minaj hasn’t publicly responded in any fashion to Remy mentioning her on the new EP. She’s yet to release a song in 2026, but revealed she’s working on a project during her Sept. 18 appearance on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle . Minaj’s last album arrived in 2023 with Pink Friday 2 , which topped the Billboard 200.

As for Remy, she’s kept busy with a handful of singles preceding Alimony this year, along with dishing out assists on collaborations with Millyz , French Montana and Max B.

“I wanted this project to feel like a conversation between women,” Remy Ma said in a statement to Complex about the EP. “We’ve all had those moments where you call your girls, look at yourself in the mirror, and say, ‘Girl, what are we doing?’ Sometimes you laugh, sometimes you learn, but you keep moving. Music has always been a place where I can express myself, and right now I’m really enjoying creating again. I want women to hear this, have fun with it, and see a little bit of themselves in it.”
