“Kansas City” can be heard in the fourth season premiere of Ted Lasso , which aired on Apple TV+ on Aug. 5. The episode served as somewhat of a series reboot for the show, with its titular character now coaching a women’s soccer team instead of a men’s program.

In August 2026, “Kansas City” — originally released in 2014 as part of The New Basement Tapes’ lone album Lost in the River: The New Basement Tapes — earned 1.9 million official streams and sold 1,000 downloads in the United States, according to Luminate. “Kansas City” was the album’s lead single in its time, peaking at No. 4 on Adult Alternative Airplay in 2015.
