Three years after cancelling their farewell due to frontman Steven Tyler’s larynx injury, Aerosmith have announced two comeback shows at L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl on October 29 and November 1 where they’ll share the stage with an impressive roster of guest artists, including the Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Heart, Andrew Watt, Billy Idol, Chad Smith, Slash, Duff McKagan, Eric Church, Sammy Hagar, Tom Morello, and many others. They’re calling the event California, Dream On: Aerosmith and Friends.
“Even more artists, special guests, and surprise appearances will be announced in the weeks ahead,” reads the concert announcement, “promising unforgettable collaborations and unexpected moments across both nights. The lineup will vary each night. Final nightly lineups will be announced at or near showtime and are subject to change.” The general ticket on-sale begins October 10. On May 1, 2023, Aerosmith rolled out plans for a 40-date North American ‘Peace Out’ farewell tour. “I think it’s about time,” guitarist Joe Perry told the Associated Press. “You never know how much longer everybody’s going to be healthy to do this.” Drummer Joey Kramer sat out the tour to “focus his attention on his family and health,” leaving John Douglas to play in his place.
The tour kicked off in Philadelphia on September 2, 2023, with a set that mixed hits like “Love in an Elevator,” “Sweet Emotion,” and “Dream On” with deeper cuts like “Adam’s Apple,” “Hangman’s Jury,” and “No More No More.” But it came to a sudden halt two shows later following a gig in Elmont, New York, when Steven Tyler injured his larynx. They initially attempted to postpone the dates while he recovered, but ultimately pulled the entire tour.
“As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other,” they said in a statement. “He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision — as a band of brothers — to retire from the touring stage.”

Tyler kept a low profile in subsequent years, popping up to perform occasionally at special events like Janie’s Fund charity shows and Ozzy Osbourne’s Back to the Beginning farewell concert in July 2025. Each time, he sang without apparent difficulty or strain.
