Borderlands 4 Punk Soundtrack to Be Released on Vinyl

Borderlands 4 ’s eclectic soundtrack is getting a vinyl release to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the looter shooter

Borderlands 4 was released last September and yesterday (September 24) Gearbox Entertainment confirmed the game’s soundtrack would be coming to vinyl.

Released in collaboration with Laced Records, the 2LP vinyl set includes 22 specially remastered tracks including Des Rocks’ ‘This Land’ and ‘Thrum Dumpster’, which features Bowling For Soup ’s Jaret Reddick and former Pantera vocalist Terry Glaze.

The Borderlands 4 soundtrack has contributions from composers Finishing Move Inc., Cris Velasco, Joshua Carro, and Christian Pacaud. Each side of the vinyl release is dedicated to one of major biomes of in-game planet Kairos – The Fadefields, The Terminus Range, Carcadia Burn and the hostile Dominion City.

A limited-edition ‘Max Mayhem’ vinyl set, featuring red and yellow discs, is available to pre-order now via Laced. Standard black vinyl is also available.

Speaking to NME about ‘This Land’, Des Rocs said : “Sonically, I wanted it to feel enormous but also capture real energy. Most bands leave that live energy on the table but you can feel my frustration in the take we used. I was pissed and tired of recording. I wanted to go home.”

“My favourite records are born when chaos is focused into a concise laser beam of rock insanity,” he continued. “Harnessing that chaos is always the mission. Borderlands is a game with a really similar operating system to mine. It’s rooted in madness but it’s all wrapped into this incredibly immersive and cohesive experience.”

“We wanted something more raucous [with the Borderlands 4 soundtrack] than we’ve done previously,” added the game’s audio director Mark Petty.

In other news, Konami has confirmed that it will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Castlevania series with a trio of orchestral gigs .
