Dua Lipa Joins Shakira in Madrid for Surprise ‘Antología’ Duet

Shakira has brought out Dua Lipa as a special guest at her residency in Madrid and duetted on ‘Antología’.

The moment took place on Saturday (October 3), as Shakira continued her huge ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ world tour, which is currently seeing her play a residency at the Spanish capital.

At Saturday’s show, Shakira kicked this off as usual with renditions of ‘La fuerte’, Black Eyed Peas’ ‘GIRL LIKE ME’, ‘Las de la intuición / Estoy aquí’ and ‘Empire / Inevitable’, before going into fan favourites including ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ and ‘She Wolf’ later in the set.

During her performance of the hit 1995 song ‘Antología’, however, Shakira mixed things up by bringing out Dua Lipa as a special guest.

The surprise appearance came following Dua Lipa covering the hit song last November, when she played in Bogotá, Colombia , and paid homage to Shakira by integrating one of her songs into the setlist.

Afterwards, Shakira took to Instagram to praise Lipa’s performance, sharing a clip and writing: “I’m so touched to hear my song in Dua’s voice, in the same city where I wrote it years ago… See how music brings us together?”

After the collaboration in Madrid this weekend, Dua Lipa shared a collection of clips of her and Shakira on stage together, as well as some photos of her backstage.

“A night in Madrid with @shakira,” she wrote in Spanish. “Thank you for inviting me to go on stage with you to sing ‘Antología’!! I felt that you, me and the audience were one. So grateful to take home such a beautiful memory!”

Shakira then shared in the comment section: “Dua, thank you for coming all the way here especially to sing with me and share your talent and beauty with all of us!! We love you goddess!”

When Dua Lipa covered Shakira’s song in Colombia, it came as a part of her ‘ Radical Optimism ‘ tour where she would surprise audiences by covering a song by an artist or band from the country she was playing in.

Other artists she covered on the tour included Ariana Grande in Miami , Aerosmith in Boston , Sinéad O’Connor in Dublin , Daft Punk in Lyon , Lorde in Zealand and more.

Additionally, Lipa also brought out a number of huge artists to help cover their songs for the tour. Big names included Billie Joe Armstrong for ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’ in San Francisco , Gwen Stefani for ‘Don’t Speak’ in Los Angeles , Nile Rodgers for ‘Le Freak ‘ in New York City, Chaka Khan for ‘Ain’t Nobody’ in Chicago , Jamiroquai for ‘Virtual Insanity’ in London , Neil Finn for ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ in Auckland , and Kevin Parker for ‘The Less I Know The Better’ in Sydney .

As for Shakira, her ongoing residency in Madrid kicked off on September 18 and runs until October 11 – meaning she will have played 12 shows at the Estadio Shakira.
