FKA Twigs Drops Lawsuit Against Shia LaBeouf After NDA Voided
FKA Twigs has dropped her lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf, stating that the actor voided an NDA she claims he used to silence her. She emphasized that women speaking out against sexual abuse should not be bound by such agreements.

FKA Twigs has dropped her lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf because she says the actor has agreed to void a non-disclosure agreement she claimed was illegal — a move the singer calls an “important victory” for women who want to “speak out about sexual abuse.”
Twigs (Tahliah Barnett) sued LaBeouf in March , claiming he was trying to silence her by enforcing an illegal gag agreement. She signed it last year as part of a settlement of her long-running sexual abuse case against LaBeouf, whom she dated in the late 2010s.

In a court filing Tuesday (Oct. 6) in Los Angeles court first reported by Billboard , the Grammy-winning singer agreed to dismiss the newer case, saying that LeBeouf had agreed that the NDA was “terminated and void” and that her litigation had thus “achieved its purpose.”
The settlement will allow Twigs to “discuss her own experience” and publicly advocate “without fear of reprisal,” her lawyer Mathew Rosengart writes in the court filing.
“This represents an important victory for the principle that women who speak out about sexual abuse should not be silenced by NDAs that contravene California law,” Rosengart writes. “FKA twigs is proud to be able to continue speaking about her experience and advocating for other women, including those who may lack the resources to speak out and defend themselves.”
LaBeouf’s attorney did not immediately return a request for comment on the filing.
Twigs and LaBeouf spent years litigating over accusations that he subjected her to “relentless abuse” during their relationship, including sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress. That case finally ended with a settlement in July 2025.
But in March, she sued him again — this time over the terms of the earlier settlement. The deal included an NDA, and LaBeouf had filed an arbitration case claiming the singer had violated the gag agreement by giving press statements that she did not “feel safe” and wanted to “help survivors.”
In her new lawsuit, Twigs claimed the NDA itself was illegal and that LaBeouf was using it to wage a “campaign of intimidation.” They argued it violated the STAND Act, a 2019 California statute passed in the wake of the #MeToo movement that banned the use of NDAs to cover up sexual assault, discrimination and sexual harassment cases.
LaBeouf’s attorneys hotly contested those accusations, arguing she had signed the deal with advice of experienced attorneys and it had been approved by a federal mediator. “As a woman with agency, she decided to settle the case and accepted money to dismiss her lawsuit,” LaBeouf’s attorney said publicly at the time.
But in Tuesday’s new filing, Twigs’ attorneys say LaBeouf has now agreed to dissolve that NDA. In a statement to Billboard , Rosengart said the deal “frees her to discuss her experience, advocate for other women who might be less privileged, and support the charitable causes of her choice.”
“Twigs stood up for something larger than herself, female survivors of sexual abuse,” Rosengart said.
