The story of Fleetwood Mac is classic rock canon at this point, memorialized via an assortment of unauthorized films , loosely inspired TV shows and plays , and Lindsey Buckingham’s recent turn as a reaction influencer for some reason. Now the band themselves are ready to “officially” tell their story, in Fleetwood Mac: The Chain , a Frank Marshall-directed documentary. It’s set to premiere on Apple TV on January 29.

Unsurprisingly, The Chain will keep its focus on the most popular era of the Mac: their 1974-2018 lineup of Stevie Nicks, Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and the late Christine McVie. (Sorry to Peter Green heads). The Chain , which promises “never-before-seen footage and exclusive new interviews,” bills itself as the first fully authorized documentary from the band, though that’s a bit of a technicality: they all participated in the BBC’s one-hour 2009 doc Fleetwood Mac: Don’t Stop .
