Ozzfest Confirms US Return in 2027 After Nearly a Decade

Ozzfest has confirmed that it will return to the US in 2027, alongside its previously announced comeback at Birmingham’s Villa Park.

The legendary metal festival, founded by Ozzy Osbourne and his wife and manager Sharon, is being revived next year for the first time since 2018.

In a new post shared on the festival’s official Instagram account on Monday (September 21), organisers posted an image of the late Black Sabbath frontman alongside the UK and US flags.

“Ozzfest will come to the UK and US,” the image reads, while the caption adds: “More info coming soon. Where are you hoping Ozzfest 2027 will pop up?”

No venue, date or line-up has yet been announced for the US edition.

The news follows confirmation last month that the UK return will take place at Villa Park in Birmingham , the same stadium that hosted Ozzy and Black Sabbath’s final-ever performances at the ‘Back To The Beginning’ show in July 2025.

Ozzy died aged 76 just weeks after the concert .

Sharon first confirmed earlier this year that Ozzfest would “absolutely” return , saying that her late husband had given the idea his blessing.

She later revealed that the festival would return to Birmingham before heading to America , telling son Jack: “We’ve got to find a lot of young, new talent, because that’s what your dad would want.”

More recently, Sharon said organisers were already speaking to potential artists , but stopped short of revealing any names.

“Of course we’re speaking to people,” she said. “I can’t let that out yet, but it’ll be soon.”

Jack has also said the revived event will continue Ozzfest’s tradition of showcasing emerging artists, with plans for at least one unsigned act to appear on the bill.

Ozzfest was first held in 1996 and became one of the defining touring metal festivals of the late ’90s and 2000s, giving major early exposure to bands including Slipknot , System Of A Down and Disturbed .

Its final edition to date took place at The Forum in Inglewood, California on New Year’s Eve 2018, with a bill featuring Rob Zombie , Marilyn Manson , DevilDriver and Ozzy himself.

Sharon previously explained that the original event came to an end because rising demands from managers and agents eventually made it financially unsustainable.

“We made a profit. But it was not like – we couldn’t retire on it,” she said in 2023 . “Managers and agents wanted more and more and more, and it just wasn’t cost-effective anymore.”

The Osbourne family have suggested that the 2027 revival could be expanded further if there is sufficient demand, with Sharon previously floating the possibility of taking Ozzfest back on the road from 2028.
