‘South Park’ Season Premiere Features Updated Theme Song and Donald Trump Cameo

South Park has introduced a new theme song and title sequence to mark its change of title to South America .

The long-running satirical comedy debuted its 29th season last night (September 16) with a new title, believed to be a dig at US President Donald Trump’s fondness for renaming areas such as The Gulf Of Mexico, Lake Ontario, and New Mexico, replacing each place name with “America”.

Announcing the name change earlier this month , creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone released a faux-sincere statement that references Google and Apple, who have been criticised for appearing to appease the Trump administration by making the name changes to their map applications.

“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA ,” they said. “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”

The title sequence for season 29’s opening episode, titled South American Biker Gangs , features a similar theme song to the classic version by Primus, only with the words “South America” awkwardly fit into the lyrics. The sequence also features a depiction of a naked Donald Trump, with only a towel covering his modesty.

The series, which airs on  Paramount+  in the UK, has aimed most of its jokes in recent seasons at the US President with storylines depicting him  in a relationship with Satan, having a micro penis , and  having sex with Vice President J.D. Vance . The White House hit back at the jokes, arguing that the cartoon “hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years”.

Recently, South Park made a reference to Donald Trump never winning an Emmy for The Apprentice while celebrating their own win.  The post, shared on their social media accounts, shares a picture with the title “You finally got your Emmy”, showing a picture of the politician with his trousers around his ankles.
