Former Tixr, See Tickets and Flavorus executive Steve Oberman joins SoundCheck Capital, a specialty finance company providing revenue-based financing to the live events industry, as senior vice president of business development.
In the role, Oberman will lead origination strategy, expanding SoundCheck’s pipeline of promoters, venues and festivals seeking non-dilutive growth capital, according to the announcement. He will also build partnerships with ticketing platforms to bring SoundCheck financing to their clients.
Oberman brings two decades of music industry experience, most recently serving as Vice President of Partnerships at Tixr. Other previous roles include as Executive Vice President and Head of Music at See Tickets, which acquired Flavorus in 2016. Oberman began his career in artist management at Frontline and Azoff Music Management.
“I’ve worked alongside Steve before, at See Tickets, and I’ve seen firsthand the trust he’s earned with promoters and venues,” said Boris Patronoff, Founder and CEO of SoundCheck Capital. “As we scale access to capital for independent operators, his relationships and his understanding of the economics of our industry make him the right person to lead our growth.”
“The most satisfying part of my career has been connecting promoters and venues with the resources they need to grow,” said Oberman. “I’ve watched Boris build SoundCheck from day one, and he’s done it with integrity and a real commitment to the independents we both care so much about. Joining him to help more of them get the capital they need felt like the obvious next chapter.”
SoundCheck Capital provides advances from $10,000 to $1,000,000 with repayment set as a fixed percentage of future ticket sales. Operators pay a single flat fee, and approvals typically arrive in three to five days. Since launching in 2024, SoundCheck has deployed more than $30 million to independent live entertainment, the company says.
