The Prodigy Unveil 'Breathe' 30th Anniversary 12" Vinyl Reissue

The Prodigy have announced a 12″ vinyl edition of ‘Breathe’ to mark the classic track’s 30th anniversary. Find all the details below.

The iconic 1996 song served as the second single from the band’s third studio album, ‘The Fat Of The Land’ (1997). It gave Liam Howlett and co. their second consecutive UK Number One, following ‘Firestarter’.

Today (Thursday September 24), The Prodigy confirmed that the celebratory reissue of ‘Breathe’ will drop on Friday November 13 – two days after the tune reaches its three-decade milestone on November 11.

It’ll arrive via XL Recordings, boasting the original track, an instrumental version, and the highly sought-after remixes by The Glitch Mob, and Mefjus & Camo & Krooked. Pre-order your copy here .

The tracklist for The Prodigy’s ‘Breathe’ 30th anniversary reissue is:

A1 – ‘Breathe’ (original)

A2 – ‘Breathe (The Glitch Mob Remix)’

B1 – ‘Breathe (Mefjus & Camo & Krooked Remix)’

B2 –  ‘Breathe’ (instrumental) ‘Breathe’ was released alongside a Walter Stern-directed video that won the Viewer’s Choice prize at the 1997 MTV VMAs, and the International Viewer’s Choice Award for MTV Europe.

‘The Fat Of The Land’ went on to be a global phenomenon, debuting at Number One on album charts around the world, and selling over 10million copies.

The project, which turns 30 next summer, is widely regarded as one of the defining and most influential records of its era. A 25th anniversary edition came out in 2022. NME previously shared an article on “how ‘The Fat Of The Land’ turned The Prodigy into worldwide dance-rock titans” .

In other news, The Prodigy have been announced as the first headliners for next year’s Creamfields . The slot will mark the band’s first performance at the festival in 14 years, following their appearance in 2013.

The Prodigy recently played some massive outdoor shows in Manchester, Edinburgh, Milton Keynes and Dublin as part of  their 2026 ‘Warrior’s Dance’ tour . They also appeared at numerous European festivals over the summer.

Speaking to  NME  late last year , Liam Howlett promised that the group would “deliver the punch” at the live dates. “Every time we go out for a new tour or big shows like this, we spend a lot of time talking about what is possible – how can we make it better,” he said.

He told us at the time that “new Prodigy music will be heard next year”, though this has yet to emerge. “Before, I described our sound as ‘evil rave’. This time the new tunes sound like ‘fuckin’ evil rave’,” he explained.

Meanwhile,  The Prodigy are set to play their first New York show in 17 years tomorrow (Friday September 25). They shared a “dirty, acid 303” remix of Sleaford Mods’ ‘Elitest G.O.A.T’  this spring, and  celebrated 30 years of their classic single ‘Firestarter’ .
