The Wombats Schedule North American Dates for 20-Year Debut Album Tour

The Wombats have added a run of North American dates to their 2027 schedule as they prepare to hit the road in celebration of “Twenty Years Of A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation.”

The English indie rock band’s debut album includes the fan favorite tunes “Let’s Dance to Joy Division,” “Kill the Director” and “Moving to New York.” A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation is described by the band’s PR team as introducing The Wombats as one of the breakout bands of the late-2000s indie rock scene, thanks to its “infectious hooks, sharp wit and candid takes on relationships, nightlife and growing up.” Monday’s announcement adds that “the record helped define a generation of indie rock and laid the foundation for the band’s enduring career.”

Following previously announced European dates booked April 1-18, the band launches the North American leg at History in Toronto on April 26. Gigs are scheduled through a May 19 show at Seattle’s The Showbox At Market, with stops including New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Austin, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco and more. The Lathums will support all North American dates.

Multi-instrumentalist Dan Haggis commented: “When we realised our debut album was turning 20 in 2027 we decided it was only fair to throw a bit of a party to celebrate. A Guide To Love, Loss and Desperation was a culmination of the first four years of life in The Wombats, it catapulted us from driving around the UK in my granny’s car and sleeping on promoters floors, all the way to touring the world. Our first album is packed full of memories – playing the Albert Hall, touring in Japan, the US, Australia (where we got to meet an actual Wombat), playing Glastonbury and so many chaotic, wonderful moments.

The setlist for the tour will feature A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation in its entirety, along with hits and fan favorites from the band’s other albums.

Haggis added: “We’re going to play the whole album from start to finish and if this album meant something to you, we invite you to join us at a show for a little trip in the Sonic Delorean. That first album gave us the possibility and platform to go on and make loads more music (with more on the way!) so we’ll be playing a selection of tunes from all our other albums too, it’s going to be a special night to remember. Hope to see you at a show. Loads of marsupial love, the Bats (Murph, Dan and Tord).”

A presale starts Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. local, followed by the general ticket onsale on Friday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. local.

The Wombats is booked by THE·TEAM in North America and by Primary Talent International in the rest of the world. The band is managed by SB Management’s Simon Bobbett.

Reports submitted to Pollstar Boxoffice for The Wombats include a July 20 show at Kulturinsel Wöhrmühle Open Air in Erlangen, Germany that sold 2,036 tickets and grossed $93,183 (81,440 euro).
