Wishy's Exclusive Track-by-Track Breakdown of 'Nature's Pill,' Featuring Spongebob Characters
Wishy offers an exclusive track-by-track guide to their new album, 'Nature's Pill,' uniquely pairing each song with a character from Spongebob Squarepants.

Track by Track is our recurring column that sees artists take readers through each song on their newest release. In this edition, former CoSigns Wishy explore their new album, Nature’s Pill .
One of the sharpest lyrical moments of 2026 arrives on the first song off Wishy’ s new album Nature’s Pill : “So fuck doing the dishes/ Fuck these clothes on my floor/ I don’t care anymore, now that you’re gone,” Kevin Krauter and Nina Pitchkites sing in harmony, adding exclamation points to each phrase.
It’s an expression of apathy, but nothing about the way they sing it or the lively arrangement underneath suggests that they actually don’t give a fuck. Instead, the song, appropriately titled “All the Rage,” lands firmly in Wishy’s sweet spot, where giving a fuck sounds effortlessly cool — stoked, even — and stormy emotions are rendered with dreamy, satisfying clarity. The band, whom we named as one of our 2024 CoSigns , have followed up their fizzy debut Triple Seven by doubling down on their poppiest impulses, painting from a more vivid palette, and adding a healthy dose of sweet sentimentality.

Following suit from their debut record, Wishy’s style definitely possesses a nostalgic glow; heavily inspired by late ’90s alternative rock, early 2000s pop-punk, and the kind of hybrid pop-rock that Michelle Branch boasted around that time, there’s a conscious mining of both adolescent angst and childhood joy in their sound. So, it’s fitting that for their Track by Track breakdown, Krauter paired each song with a character from Spongebob Squarepants — in fact, that’s the whole framework of his writeup.

Is it an ideal way to understand the depth of their songwriting and their intentionality with this project? Probably not. Does it actually put the record’s individual songs in perspective? I’d argue yes. Is it the most Wishy way to do a Track by Track breakdown? For sure. Check out Krauter’s breakdown of each song off Nature’s Pill and what Spongebob character they’d be, including nods to Pearl, Sandy, Plankton, and all the Nickelodeon show’s greatest figures.

“All the Rage”:
SpongeBob Character: SpongeBob
This song kicks off the record much like SpongeBob is the first character shown in the famous TV show SpongeBob SquarePants . It’s high energy and full of contradictions, much like our yellow friend.

“Covergirl”:
SpongeBob Character: Squidward
If this song were a SpongeBob character, I’m sure it would be Squidward, because he is often concerned with matters of the ego, which regularly bites him in the ass.
“Sensational”:
SpongeBob Character: Sandy
Sandy is bold and confident despite living in an environment completely hostile to her species, much like how this song feels.
“Shift”:
SpongeBob Character: Karen the Computer Wife
Karen holds it down and always rolls with the punches. Being married to Plankton probably isn’t easy, but she’s clearly found a way to take joy in her digital existence.
“You’re Not Serious”:
SpongeBob Character: Plankton
This song is short and full of attitude, just like Plankton.
“Mona Lisa”:
SpongeBob Character: Mrs. Puff
She is beautiful and misunderstood.
“Lovesick”:
SpongeBob Character: Pearl
If anyone in Bikini Bottom would be bumping this song at full volume, windows down, it’s probably Pearl. She exudes youthful energy and turbulent emotions.
“Freak 99”:
SpongeBob Character: Old Man Jenkins
Not much is known about this senior member of the Bikini Bottom community, but one can imagine him in his younger days getting into all sorts of complicated situations and maybe getting a little freaky too.
“Headscratcher”:
SpongeBob Character: The Flying Dutchman
The Flying Dutchman is a heavily underrated character in the show, much like this song being a low-key banger on the album.
“Blitz”:
SpongeBob Character: Gary
Gary can be chaotic and unpredictable sometimes, but ultimately he’s just living life and taking every day as it comes.
“Kiss Kiss Kiss”:
SpongeBob Character: Grandma SquarePants
This song would be SpongeBob’s grandma because she loves to give him kisses and smother him in affection 🙂
“Party World”:
SpongeBob Character: Patrick
Patrick loves to party, as we all know. He lives in a world all his own, and there are basically no rules or limits to how much fun you can have there.
