Fans and media commentators have reacted to some of the surprise snubs at this year’s Emmys , with some big names missing out.

The ceremony took place at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater last night (Monday September 14), with Widow’s Bay dominating the evening with 14 wins including Outstanding Comedy Series. However, some fans were shocked at the shows or performers that missed out.

One noticeable snub was the female stars of The Pitt , with the HBO medical drama having four out of seven nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, only for all to lose to Alison Janney for The Diplomat .

Some pointed to too many actresses being put forward for a nomination, and splitting the vote as fans of the show picked their favourite. The Pitt’s male star, Noah Wyle, would win in the leading actor category.

> it just also doesn’t even seem fair??? like the supporting actress 4/6 were the pitt. there should be a limit per show i dunno — ⋆.˚✮ archie ✮˚.⋆ (@lupmoony) September 15, 2026

Game Of Thrones spin-off A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms also came away with just one award (Outstanding Stunt Performance) out of eight nominations, with fans of the series feeling it deserved more.

Finally, many felt that the In Memoriam section, which featured a musical performance from Noah Kahan , left out some important names who had passed away in the last year, including Chuck Norris, Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon, and Transformers voice actor Peter Cullen.

“I sometimes watch the In Memoriam segments in Award shows to see who they forget,” complained one fan, while another added: “Emmys snubbed Peter Cullen in the in memoriam what a shame.”

One actor who did receive acknowledgement was Catherine O’Hara, with Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin joining O’Hara’s on-screen children from Schitt’s Creek for an emotional tribute. Sally Field and Reba McEntire also remembered Dolly Parton, who died on August 25 aged 80 , saying: “If there are truly angels on Earth, then we just lost one.”
