Lumen Field Achieves Highest Green Building Certification
The Seahawks announced Lumen Field earned LEED Platinum certification, the highest level awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council, on Green Sports Day.
In honor of Green Sports Day, the Seahawks announced Lumen Field’s achievement of LEED Platinum certification. LEED Platinum is the highest certification in the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building rating system, administered by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
The achievement was celebrated during a special on-field moment at the Seahawks’ home game vs. the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 4. Lumen Field is only the fourth NFL venue to achieve LEED Platinum certification.
“Achieving LEED Platinum is a tremendous milestone for Lumen Field and a testament to our ongoing commitment to sustainability,” said Zach Hensley, Seahawks Vice President of Operations and General Manager of Lumen Field. “While our stadium is now 25 years old, this recognition demonstrates that with intentional innovation, a dedicated operations team and exceptional community partners, we can continue to perform at the highest environmental standards.”
To achieve the LEED platinum level, Lumen Field earned points for sustainability features related to energy efficiency, local food & beverage sourcing, green cleaning, water conservation, waste diversion, and more. This recent achievement builds on the momentum of being only the second NFL venue to achieve TRUE Gold Certification for zero waste efforts in 2025.

Lumen Field is a prime example of how the innovative work of project teams can create local solutions that contribute to making a global difference.”
The Green Sports Alliance has also recognized Lumen Field with the following awards: 2026 Verified Energy Efficiency Leader; 2026 Verified Material Management Champion; 2025 Waste Champion; and 2024 Energy Player.
