My Wonderful Boyfriend Debuts New Track "Chip City"

Chip City, bitch. Chip Chip City, bitch. What do you think life is like in Chip City? I bet it's pretty good. I bet there's lots of chips. When you're watching TV and you've already eaten dinner but you're still just a tiny bit hungry, I bet that's the place to be. Just speculating, though. To confirm, you'd have to check with My Wonderful Boyfriend. That's the name of the band. I don't have a wonderful boyfriend. My boyfriend ain't shit.

The Brooklyn indie trio My Wonderful Boyfriend landed on our list of 2024's best new bands before they'd even released their debut EP An Evening With... The band followed that record with the one-off single " I'm Your Man " last year, and now they're celebrating their new deal with New West Records by releasing "Chip City," a scraggly, creaky new jam rooted in the early Modest Mouse style that never quite goes away.

In a press release, My Wonderful Boyfriend frontman PJ McCormick says, "This is a love song from a guy who is a little drunker than he thinks he is. He's a romantic, but he isn't really finding the right words. He's putting all his eggs in one basket, and it isn't wise. He's losing the plot. There's maybe a line or two in the outro where he sobers up enough to get the picture." Check out the Godfrey Nares-directed video below.
