Nor'easter Forces Cancellation of All Things Go, Global Citizen, and CBGB Festivals

More live music producers have followed suit, calling off shows because of a severe weather storm in the Northeast U.S. after announcements from Ed Sheeran and Oceans Calling.

After consulting with local officials, All Things Go, Global Citizen and CBGB festivals announced cancellations because of the hard-hitting nor’easter affecting the region. Heavy rain, high winds and coastal flooding are expected in some parts of the East Coast.

Such severe storms in the region are rare during this time of year. Global Citizen, which has been held at Great Lawn in Central Park since 2012, said it was the first time in 14 years it had to cancel its music festival.

All Things Go, a beloved festival that features a lineup full of female and nonbinary artists, announced that its three-day event at New York’s Forest Hill Stadium was canceled “due to severe weather conditions in the New York Metro area throughout the weekend, including high winds.” Zara Larsson, Lola Young, Brandi Carlile, Ethel Cain, Muna and Carly Rae Jepsen were headlining the event.

Global Citizen Festival was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, in Central Park and boasted a diverse lineup that included Ms. Lauryn Hill & Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey and TOMORROW X TOGETHER.

“Forecasts predict dangerous conditions and circumstances in which we cannot safely bring tens of thousands of Global Citizens, artists, crew, vendors, partners, and staff onto the Great Lawn, let alone all of the equipment required,” Global Citizen wrote in its statement announcing the cancellation. “Safety has to come first. … We have spent this week working through countless contingencies, which were ultimately not possible, and canceling is a decision we have not taken lightly.”

CBGB Festival was also forced to cancel its programming, which included The Prodigy on Sept. 25 and the main event the following day. This year’s festival, which was scheduled to take place at Under the K Bridge in Brooklyn, included Morrissey, Patti Smith, Interol, Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter, Bikini Kill and more.
