Tony Iommi's "Stormwatcher" Evokes Classic Black Sabbath Sound
Guitar icon Tony Iommi's latest single, "Stormwatcher," delivers a sound reminiscent of Black Sabbath's late '80s to early '90s output, showcasing his enduring guitar legend status.
Black Sabbath legend Tony Iommi has unleashed “Stormwatcher” as the latest single off his upcoming solo album, From the Dark , due out October 23rd.
“Stormwatcher” follows the mold of Black Sabbath records like Perfect Stranger or Headless Cross , offering a cleaner and tighter mold for the heavy metal drama. It also provides a strong vocal from Jørn Lande, showcasing a similarity to vocalists like Glenn Hughes or Ian Gillan from their time in Sabbath.

Lande, who handles lead vocals throughout the upcoming Iommi album, discussed the lyrical direction of the song, saying, “It channels something from within, something real.”
He added, “We are the captain of our own vessel, a ship crashing through unknown and sometimes challenging waters, always navigating forward, steering steady through every storm, driven by dreams of new horizons and longing for something new.”

Iommi and Lande are joined on the song and on the album by bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil. The album, co-produced by Iommi and his longtime creative partner Mike Exeter, is set to arrive 26 years after the guitar icon’s first solo album, Iommi, and 21 years after his collaborative effort with Glenn Hughes on Fused .
