Maz Unveils New EP Loveandpain and Releases Title Track

Since 2022, Marley Guevara has been releasing swoony indie pop under the moniker Maz. She even transformed Dinosaur Jr.'s "Little Fury Things" into a synth-pop wonderland. Now, the Utah artist is announcing her new EP Loveandpain and sharing the title track.

"'Loveandpain' was written with my great-grandfather's ghost, drawing from his helpless romantic spirit," Guevara says. "The song, to me, explores love and pain as two sides of the same coin, the deepest pain you've felt existing alongside the deepest joy and ultimately choosing to love fully, even when you know that love can hurt."

While working on the EP, Guevara came across long-forgotten tapes of her great-grandfather singing and playing guitar. Not only did she use them as inspiration, but she also sampled them. Hear the title track below.
